Brown Labs

I need to tell you something.
I had to escape.
You say I need coping skills.
Why would I cope with a dead marriage?
I know I’m a handful.
I plead for the stuff to make it work and
get unchanging promises.

Arrived in Boston to big slushy snow banks.
George picks me up at the curve.
We eat Chinese, and then go to a bookstore.
He buys a Mediterranean cookbook.
I buy a calendar on brown Labs.
I left a dying dog in Michigan.

A.J. texts me.
Said she cried in school.
I say this may be better.
At home we take each other
for granted.
From here we’ll be one on one and
Every word will count.
I have to make a spin.

I’m so sorry for allowing you
to bully me.
