USA 'r Us
Jesus said "My kingdom is not of this world." I do not feel represented by the "Religious Right." God is unknowable to my limited sadly human mind. How can I be so certain of His position on the role of women, capitol punishment, contraception, politics, or the love of a gay couple. My faith is woven by the very doubt that gives it strength and humility. In this cultural climate, being a Christian in America is synonymous with being a "conservative Republican." I'm opposed to any politicization of the Gospels. Jesus belonged to no political party, nor do I. How many will not receive His message when it's been injected with hate?

Women
Be kind to women, for they make up half the population, and are mothers of the other half.

Take it Down Girl
Take it down, girl.
Why the angst? Others are content In grocery lines talking 'bout their neighbor's fall from grace and mortgage rates and the price of Wheaties.
Take it down, girl.
Look at the changing sky and the newborn. The answer will remain.
Take it down, girl.
Only God
Only God is in a position to look down on anyone.

How do people find their way? I marvel at their internal compass. As simple as looking at the sky, they tell me where I am and how to get to the next place. They ravel off directions, I taking shorthand, I giving up, hoping to catch a landmark along the way. The second I slam the car door, I’m back in the maze, only knowing it’s somewhere. Searching and crying down a nameless dark street.
